Entergy Donates $5,000 Prize To Both a Louisiana-Based Company and Entergy “Series A” Power Pitch Participant Who Receive Most Votes In Facebook-Based Competition

June 23, 2014, New Orleans -- Entergy Corporation and PowerMoves.NOLA, the new national initiative designed to provide access to capital, connections and guidance to increase the number of America’s venture-backed minority entrepreneurs, today announced the launch of the Entergy Power Boost Challenge.  Entergy will award $5000 prizes to two startups participating in the PowerMoves.NOLA initiative who garner the most votes in the corporation’s Facebook-based challenge.

Specifically, the $5,000 prizes in the Entergy Power Boost Challenge will go to:

1.     The company among the eight participating in the Entergy ‘Series A” Power Pitch (Friday, July 4 at 2 PM at Manning’s Restaurant) that receives the most consumer votes. Those companies include:

The votes can be cast on Entergy’s Power to Care Facebook page: www.facebook.com/thepowertocare. Beginning today, fans of the companies can vote up to once per day until the contest concludes at midnight on July 3.

PowerMoves.NOLA launches July 3-5 in conjunction with the ESSENCE Festival™ Presented by Coca-Cola® with a weekend chock full of events. Winners will be announced during the Entergy “Series A” Power Pitch session emceed by TV One and syndicated radio host Roland Martin.

PowerMoves.NOLA is offering three pitch events for twenty high growth, minority-founded startups, and an intense two day Risingstars boot camp presented by Techstars for twenty early stage tech entrepreneurs of color. Over the course of the event, these forty entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas, expand their networks, and foster connections and relationships that will help them grow their businesses.
