Incentive program to encourage the production of software and digital media content in Louisiana 

  • 35% tax credit on qualifying payroll expenditures on labor performed in the state 
  • 25% tax credit for qualifying production expenditures directly related to the project 
  • No annual cap on tax credits and no minimum spend
  • Flexible options for claiming credit – 100% rebate at tax filing or 85% at anytime during the year
  • Product must be for external use

Quality Jobs Program 

Provides a cash rebate to companies that create well-paying jobs and promote economic development

  • 5% or 6% cash rebate of annual gross payroll
  • Allows 4% sales/use tax rebate on capital expenditures or
  • 1.5% investment tax credit for qualified expenses
  • Must create 5 net new jobs over 3 years and reach certain payroll thresholds
  • Annual program – 10 year term

Research and Development Tax Credit

Assists businesses in establishing or continuing research and development activities within the state

  • Provides up to a 40% tax credit on qualified research expenditures incurred in Louisiana 
  • Tiered program that assist all sized businesses with costs related to development of new technology – includes wages, supplies and other associated expenses
  • Must be conducted to relate to new or improved function, performance, or quality  

Angel Investor Tax Credit

Encourages accredited investors to invest in early stage Louisiana businesses that seek startup and expansion capital

  • 35% credit to the qualified angel investor
  • $1M per year and up to $2M per qualified business - $5M annual program cap
  • 60 day proof of funding period
  • Refundable credit

Technology Commercialization Tax Credit

Program to encourage Louisiana private sector companies to create technology while partnering with state universities  

  • Allows up to 40% credit of qualifying expenses
  • Maximum credit is $100k
  • Costs include machinery, equipment, licenses, patents, copyrights and research licenses agreements
